“He had watched the Akote from the beginning. Before then. From the time when the Sun came into being. When first woman saw the flame of first man and first man was drawn to the fire of first woman, when he and the others emerged from the dark worlds onto this earth.”
COYOTE is an 80,000 word historical novel: an anti-western set in the canyons of the Southwest. It starts in the early 1800s when Arizona was part of Mexico and ends as the Civil War begins. Spanning three generations, the story plots the integration of a mixed race trader into the Akote, and that Tribe’s struggles as the US invades their homeland.
It explores racial and cultural identity, emotional inheritance, and what it means to be other in times of conflict. Robin has been mentored in the project by Russ Litten, and is currently looking for a publisher for the book.
